at Piccadilly theatre until 9 march 2024

Moulin Rouge! The Musical is one of the most anticipated shows anywhere in the world! After winning several awards including the Tony Award for Best Musical 2021, Moulin Rouge! The Musical is finally coming to the Piccadilly theatre. Thus, our parisian website Le Monde du Ciné is invited to London to travel to Paris for the Opening night which took place on the evening of January 20, 2022.

Are there enough words to describe the show? How to talk about love without talking about seduction? You don’t have to be seduced, you’ll be seduced from the beginning.
From the first bass, you are taken by a vibration beyong your control. Immediately, the atmosphere in the stalls is festive, the audience regularly gives an ovation to the performances. On several occasions, the applause never ends in front of a troupe that strike the pose until the audience wants to get rid of its enthusiasm. This will be the case for the opening of the second act Backstage romance or for El tango de Roxanne and its high level choreography. You will let yourself be carried by this Fireworks started A capella to end up exploding by touching the stars. Elephant Love Medley in its new form is incredible in its scenography as in its musical choices.

The opening of the show Welcome to the Moulin Rouge and its Lady Marmalade makes the pleasure last but in the end, in this extraordinary show, « more » is never enough. Each moment raises the bar to a higher level. Simply magnificent! Satine’s entrance is a testament to her magical staging.

And this cast! What beauty from everyone in their diversity! No man, woman, small, big, fat, skinny, white, black, straight, gay… Only beautiful physiques.

Lights, costumes, sets, songs, there is nothing to complain about. Wherever you look on and around the stage, something is happening. The show is everywhere.
Every choice is perfect. Every detail is calculated until the elephant or the red mill in the hall are turned off when they are present on stage. And these colors! How is it possible to have such a bright red? It’s just like the show: flamboyant!

The humor that is found in the genre of the musical is perfectly brought and the fans of the movie will not be disturbed at all by the deviations made on this point.

If you have to go to London, it should be only to go and applaud this huge show.

Thus, Moulin Rouge! The Musical becomes the fifth show in 7 years to get the triple coup de coeur Le Monde du Ciné. Let’s go even further and say that Moulin Rouge! The Musical is the best of the best in musicals. Even in our wildest dreams, we could not have imagined such a success. More than spectacular, spectacular! Best show ever!
